New Year Declarations and Affirmations for 2024

As we close out 2023 and step into the New Year 2024, we want to take a moment to thank God for his Goodness and kindness to us.

God is good! He’s faithful, even in the midst of difficult circumstances, God is good.

If your year has been the best year ever, God is good.

If your year hasn’t been great, guess what? God is good.

Whatever you have experienced in 2023, good or bad, know that God has great plans for your life.

God is for you!

And God is doing a new thing in and through your life in 2024!

Take stock of the year by journaling.

At the end of the year, as we transition into a New Year, I find it useful and helpful to journal some of my thoughts on the past year. It is a practice I repeat each year and it has become a helpful tool to cultivate gratitude, process life changes, and look forward to a new beginning.

Often it starts simply by listing out the things I’ve been thankful for, and might also include some of the challenges, breakthroughs, etc. Throughout the year I jot down quotes, notes, ideas, thoughts, dreams, encounters, etc so that I have a breadcrumb trail of God’s work in my life.

I use it as a time to get out of my head and heart all the things and look at what I want to leave behind or lean into more in the coming year.

I wouldn’t say they are New Year’s resolutions, but more of a clean slate, whereby I can align myself with where I’ve been and what God has done, and look ahead with joy towards what He is doing and wants to do in me for the upcoming year.

A New Season

A new year is a natural breaking point in our calendar and allows for a reset, spiritually, physically, and mentally.

People often set New Year’s resolutions or use them as a time to inspire and motivate themselves for a great year.

I agree, that a new season and starting a new year is the perfect time to start a new routine, improve your self-care, and eradicate your negative thoughts.

We all want to be healthy.

Not just our physical and emotional health but our mindset.

As we step into 2024 God wants to raise your expectations for what He can do in your life.

In Proverbs 23:18 God says that the expectation of the righteous man will not be cut short!

So as we begin a New Year let’s forget what lies behind and strain forward to what lies ahead (Philippians 3:13) because SURELY Goodness and mercy and unfailing love will follow us all the days of our lives! (Psalm 23:6).

Having a healthy mindset

Our minds deal with, process and filter an abundance of thoughts, visuals, data and information each and every day.

Don’t you sometimes wish you could switch off a little bit?

Our mind is a battleground, and we must learn how to shift our thoughts and our mindsets.

So often our self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth are wrapped up in ‘things’ or ‘stuff’. Or perhaps even our behavior, whether it’s good one day or bad the next.

The truth is, that for those who are in Christ Jesus (i.e. You trust in Him) you are a new creation and the old has gone… FOREVER.

Having that inner dialogue daily where you prioritize speaking out powerful affirmations from scripture of who God says you are, will help it become a reality and feel true in your life.

It will shift your mindset from one of negativity and hopelessness to one of positivity and hope for the future.

There is NO hopelessness in heaven, and by repeating your affirmations you improve your mental well-being and experience a fresh start through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Use Your Authority!

In Luke 10:19 Jesus spoke to the disciples “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you”.

Jesus then said in Matthew 28:18 “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me”.

As believers, we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us.

1 John 4:4 says “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world”. 

So we carry authority, our words have the power to create, destroy, and speak life.

So as you step into 2024 whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Affirmations help! So speak out these positive new year affirmations.

Start to declare and affirm the word of God over every circumstance and situation in your life.

Prophesy to the dry bones (dead, decay, non-living) that they may come alive!

2024 is a year for you, your husband/wife, your children and your family to thrive!

What if I don’t believe these affirmations?

Our mental conversation has a major influence on our views and contentment. We can control how much influence those negative ideas have over us by replacing damaging beliefs with positive affirmations, which means the sky’s the limit for experiencing actual joy!

Even if you don’t believe them, repeating these affirmations to yourself and substituting negative self-talk anytime you notice it can help you come into alignment with the truth of how God sees you.

Your feelings are not the highest indicator of truth in your life! God’s word is.

There is no junior Holy Spirit.

Jesus had a special relationship with children and in my experience children are often far more aware of the spiritual atmosphere than adults.
