I Learned It From Bart Simpson
I bet you weren’t expecting that when you clicked on this blog.
Yes, it’s true.
I used to watch the Simpsons when I was younger and still find myself praying the prayer I heard on there, albeit now genuinely!
Bart loved a mealtime prayer and my favorite was:
Good Food, Good Drink
Good God Lets Eat
I mean it’s power packed and providing that the emphasis on Good God is on God being good, then I’m all for it.
Anyway, I digress.
The other prayer I remember was:
God is great
God is good
Get me through my childhood.
Which was highly amusing to me in my younger years, and as I’ve found out more recently is actually a play on another prayer.
The Original God is Great Prayer
God is Great, God is Good;
Let us thank Him for our food.
By His hands, we all are fed,
Give us Lord our Daily Bread.
This simple, powerful prayer, reminds us at the dinner table that God is great and good and He is our provider.
Whatever may be happening in the world, we can trust in God who made the universe and gives us food to nourish our bodies.
God loves us so much and every time we eat and thank Him we are declaring His goodness over us and our families.
God is Great Dinner Prayer For Kids
The original prayer is simple and easy for kids to say, but why not personalize it and add your own flavor to it?
God, you are Great
God, you are Good
Thank you for this food
Bless it to our bodies
Strengthen those with no food today.
You might already have your own dinner time routine and prayer.
It’s so important that we give thanks.
God is great and God is good.
Always and without fail.
